Kids have their say on punishments
Research in 1952 found that Schoolchildren didn’t mind getting ‘a good talking to’ when they misbehaved, but they didn’t want bad reports going to their parents. Nine out of ten teachers were in favour of keeping the cane ‘as a last resort’.

Certainly an interesting article although sadly part is missing. I certainly agree with the pupils' top of the list about an unfavourable report being sent home as I knew very well what to expect in that case and that was not being able to sit comfortably for some afterwards.

DeleteAccording to the inquiry those pupils from homes where obedience was rigidly enforced and punishments were severe needed extra pushing and control in school - now I know who was to blame for all my failures and all those canings!
