I suspect many readers of this website
would put the Australian movie Flirting somewhere in their personal top ten all-time
favourite school corporal punishment scenes
from mainstream movies. For me, it comes in at number four.
A reminder if you need one: it is about an
awkward 17-year-old who has been sent away by
his parents to the all-male St. Albans boarding school in rural New South
Wales, Australia, in the hopes he won’t become a delinquent.
It is a strict school and the opening scenes the boys are lined up
outside the housemaster’s study to be called in one at a time. They each get a
severe caning across the seat of their pyjamas. Later back in the dormitory
they compare their stripes …

Yes, this is certainly a favourite. The boy is trying the trick of concentrating on his surroundings as a way of getting through the pain, and his facial expression as he is caned is exactly right for the pain signature of the cane. It really captures the bonding experience of a group caning.
