Movie: Rotan
A father, who is also the discipline master at his son’s school, has to
grapple with his own principles when his rebellious son breaks one of the
school rules. That’s the
plot of the movie Rotan, a hit at the 28th Singapore International Film
Festival in 2017. It was made by graduating students at Ngee Ann Polytechnic.
According to film maker Hamzah Fansuri, ‘Rotan is a depiction of the
unbridled lack of power and control that a parent has towards a child during
the stages of youth.’
