The caning breeches
Surely a couple of fetishists having fun.
Here a letter writer ‘Over Tighter’ recalls the special caning breeches that
were used at his school. He is responding to a previous letter written by ‘Ben
Dover.’ One reader thinks he’s seen through them.

It seems to me the "caning breeches" thing is just weird enough to be possibly true. I think it lends credibility that the author of the letter takes it as being obvious that he was at boarding school. And assumes that everyone else would find it normal for boys to spend Saturday evenings in dormitories. When presumably most boys didn't - even in 1923. It is documented that "specially thin trousers for boys being caned in" were in use in the Royal Navy at the time. And that some boys were required to change trousers before being caned at Eton. So it's not as implausible as it sounds.
