Favourite TV Drama Clips: 1
So here we are … at last. Number 1 in my
personal Top 20 favourite school CP scenes from TV drama. It was hard to make a definitive choice, what should be
at Number 1, what at Number 2 and so on. Thanks for the comments you have made
(publicly and privately) about my choices and for those who have agreed and
disagreed (in a friendly manner) with them. Remember it’s just a bit of fun.
There are no prizes.
Number 1 is another clip
from the BBC series Tom Brown’s Schooldays.
The scene comes close to the end of the five-part
adaption screened in 1971. Flashman has been exposed as a bully and a cad and
is to be expelled from Rugby School, but, not until he has been publicly
thrashed.
There have been many film and TV
adaptations of Tom Brown over the years and you can see clips from some of them
here.

Absolutely superb public flogging. In front of the whole school, across a specially built frame, and held down by prefects. It could only have been bettered by seeing the full flogging of both boys.
ReplyDeleteThank you for compiling this superb list.
Thank you for the list. Enjoyment all the way. I've been waiting for P'Tang Yang Kipperbang and it seems churlish to quibble, but does it count as a film, not TV?
ReplyDeleteYes, it came up in the top films (which technically it is) … see it here
