Does the cane stimulate learning?


 Here’s a thoughtful piece questioning whether learning in schools could ever be stimulated by the use of corporal punishment. It needs no further introduction except that it is from Canada in 1964.

  2. In answer to the question, the fear of caning might stimulate learning in some boys. Others who do not fear caning relish showing off their high pain threshold.
