Six of the best reasons to behave
Nearly ten years after corporal punishment
was banned in state schools in the UK, the debate over bringing it back raged
on. Newspapers across the land found readers were always willing to chip in
with a heated comment or two.
Here’s an example of one newspaper milking
the topic for all it was worth. The Birmingham Evening Mail in 1996
published a page of letters in favour of the cane.
