Favourite TV Drama Clips: 6
The long-running Glasgow-based police detective
series Taggart is
Number 6 in my personal Top 20 favourite school CP scenes from TV drama.
I’m sure many readers of
this blog are already familiar with the episode called
Out of Bounds.
Three prefects pour urine onto the bed of a junior
boy to make it look like he has wet the bed. The headmaster discovers this and
they end up in his study with perhaps predictable results. Except that this is
1998 and corporal punishment in schools is unlawful.
At least one of the lads is so socially
conditioned that he bends over the desk to take his medicine. His pals are less
cooperative …
There is some problem with the sound on the second longer clip, but the first shorter (and of less good quality) clip shows the main action.

It is interesting that the first lad removes his blazer before bending over. He isn’t told to but seems to know this was expected. I counted 8 strokes.
ReplyDeleteThe cane should never have been banned… it’s really needed today both at home and school..
