To beat or not to beat?
It feels like that during the 1970s and
1980s discussion on the abolition of corporal punishment in the UK was never
ending. It certainly made easy copy for local newspapers as they filled pages
with opinions from all and sundry. Here’s an example from the Liverpool Echo
in 1981.

Nice bottom from AI even though the boy is only half leaning over the desk. But AI's teachers (masters?) are stilled burdened with gown, jacket and tie. Let him take them all off and deliver a good caning that he will feel don't you think?
