Memories: A Harrowing Experience

 

I will certainly never forget the beatings themselves. They are calculated to strike terror into the heart of an adolescent. Only a Victorian – or medieval – mind could have devised them. A typical beating – one I experienced, for instance, will go something like this …. Writer William Spencer recalls his time at Harrow, one of England’s most famous public (i.e. elite) schools.
