Comic: Whacky’s teacher feels the sting of the cane

 

Whacky is the comic strip that just keeps giving. To say this mainstay of Cor!! in the early 1970s was obsessed with corporal punishment would be an understatement. He was billed as “He’s always getting whacked” – and he was.

CP was one big joke in Whacky and to add to the fun Cor!! liked to turn the tables once in a while and put the schoolteacher Mr Thwackery on the receiving end of the cane. What fun the readers must have had seeing the horrible bully being – at various times – beaten by the headmaster, a school governor, a housewife, Whacky himself, and a gorilla!
