TV Drama: David Copperfield (Italian version)
David
Copperfield, the novel by Charles Dickens, has
been adapted for film and television countless times and in many languages.
The
story follows David throughout his life and a key sequence is his childhood.
After his father dies and his mother remarries, David bites his step-father
while he attempts to thrash him and subsequently is sent away to Salem House, a
boarding school, under a ruthless headmaster named Mr Creakle.
In
this clip from an Italian television miniseries produced in 1965, David is forced to
wear a board around his shoulders to warn others that he bites and he is
ridiculed by the other children.
