Movie: Apollo 10 ½, A Space Age Childhood
Apollo 101⁄2:
A Space Age Childhood is a 2022 American animated film from Netflix set
during the events preceding the Apollo 11 Moon
landing in 1969. It is loosely based on the childhood of writer, director, and
producer Richard Linklater. It is a fictional tale of Stanley, a fourth-grader who becomes the first person
to land on the Moon.
Of course, this being the 1960s schoolboys have to
face the daily ordeal of sadistic physical-ed teachers and the
ever-present paddle. As Stanley says, “You were always only one little screw up
away from a beating from any number of adults in your life.”
