TV Drama: The Rifleman
The Rifleman is an American Western television programme
starring Chuck Connors as rancher Lucas McCain
and Johnny Crawford as his son Mark McCain. It is set in the 1880s in
the fictional town of North Fork, New Mexico Territory.
The Rifleman aired on ABC from 1958 to 1963, as a production
of Four Star Television. And was shown all over the
world.
In this episode The Schoolmaster, first aired in November 1960, Mark is accused by
the new strict master of putting jujube candy between the pages of the master’s book and damaging it.
Mark is innocent but rather than tell on his friend he takes a caning. Later,
his father is far from sympathetic.
