Movie: Why Shoot the Teacher?
Why Shoot the Teacher? is a well-regarded Canadian film from 1977 set in Saskatchewan in 1935. It is based on a book of the same name by Max Braithwaite.
It stars Bud Cort as a urban east-province Canadian fresh from college who desperate for work
travels to Western Canada to accept a teaching position at a one-room rural

He is a fish out of water and struggles to fit in. This worries him
tremendously and one day he vents that frustration by beating a pupil with a
strap.
