Movie: Tom Sawyer
There can’t be many of us who don’t know Tom Sawyer
(even if we’ve never actually read the book). Many will know it from the
countless television and movie adaptations of this Mark Twain ‘classic’.
One of the iconic scenes takes place in the schoolroom
when Tom takes the blame for something his would-be sweetheart Becky does.
Naturally, Tom is on the receiving end of a whupping.
This movie version was made in 1973. It was produced
by Reader’s Digest and is available on streaming
services and DVD.
Johnny Whitaker
played Tom Sawyer and Jodie
Foster Becky Thatcher
