Here – because I suspect many of you would never forgive me if I didn’t show it – is a third and final clip from the BBC TV adaption of Tom Brown’s Schooldays.

It comes very close to the end of the five part adaption screened in 1971. Flashman has been exposed as a bully and a cad and is to be expelled from Rugby School, But not until he has been publicly thrashed in front of the whole school.
